Toolbar & Navigation

The default position for the main Toolbar is along the left side of the Verbum window and provides access to virtually all Verbum features.

Main Verbum Toolbar

Note: Screenshots in this article will use the wide toolbar. To select the narrow toolbar click the arrow at the bottom left of the screenshot (1).

If you prefer to have the Toolbar along the top of the Logos window, click the Toolbar More Actions Menu Kebab Vertical icon on the bottom left, select Program Settings, and change the Application Toolbar Location to Top.

Open Verbum Program Settings Select Verbum Top Toolbar

Note: Available in all subscriptions and in the former Starter Feature Set and above.

Command Box

The Command Box, at the top of the toolbar, allows you to enter a command directly. This is especially helpful if you know what you want to do but don’t want to find it in the menus.

Note: If you are using the narrow toolbar, click the Verbum icon to the left of the Command Box shown in the screenshot below. This will open the Command box.

Documents, Guides/Workflows, Tools

The next three icons are Documents Documents icon, Guides/Workflows Guides icon, and Tools Tools icon. When opened, each of these menus can be resized by dragging it to the size you want from the bottom right corner of the menu.

Documents

The Documents menu houses all of your Verbum documents and contains links to documents others have shared publicly or with a group you are a member of. You can browse or search the available documents, share them with your Faithlife groups, or create new documents from this menu.

Verbum Documents Menu

  • Type the name of a document into the search box to filter the list down to documents that match.
  • Clicking the column headings will sort your documents by that heading.
  • Click the navigation menu icon to filter your displayed documents by type, or to filter public documents by type, author (individual who shared the document), and date modified.

Managing Documents

  • If you have deleted a document and want to recover it, click to open the navigation menu. In the bottom left of the navigation pane, click Trash. This will direct you to documents.logos.com where you can manage and recover your documents.
  • To share a document, click Share. If you are browsing public or group documents, this becomes an option to Add to your docs.

Guides/Workflows

The Guides/Workflows menu features three sections: a search box at the top to quickly find and open a particular guide/workflow type, a section below that featuring the six core guides and some common workflows (you can customize this section by dragging your favorite guides and workflows here, or right-clicking any item and unchecking Pin to Top to remove it), and a final section with collapsible headings for all of the available guide and workflow types.

Synchronization

Verbum allows you to access your documents and settings on more than one computer. For this feature to work, the computers must be signed in under the same Faithlife / Verbum account.

  • Synchronization is enabled by default if Use Internet is enabled in Program Settings.
  • Click the sync arrows  or type sync now in the Command box to manually prompt the program to synchronize.
  • If synchronization fails, the Synchronize icon will display a warning notification. Potential causes include: disconnection from internet; recently awakened computer acquiring IP address; Logos team performing maintenance on the sync server. Learn more about troubleshooting problems in the sync process.

Notifications

The Notification icon takes the form of a blue circle with a white number inside. You can click it to see what the notifications relate to and clear individual notifications when you no longer want to see them.

If you are an Verbum subscriber, giving you access to AI credits, this icon also serves as an indicator to show how much of your monthly credit allowance you have used.

So the icon can appear in three different ways:

  • Notification : Indicates that there are three notifications pending
  • AI Credits - 80% : Indicates that there are three notifications pending and how many of your allocated AI credits you have used for the month
  • AI Credits - 80% : Indicates how many of your allocated AI credits you have used for the month

You can control whether or not these notifications occur using the Show the Notification Bar toggle in Program Settings.
