Verbum makes it easy to read through books in your Library or explore a topic by creating systematic Reading Plans that you can tailor to your pace and schedule. Customize an existing Reading Plan or create your own using Passage Lists or Clippings documents. You can also share a Plan or export it to your calendar application. Your Reading Plans automatically sync and track your progress across your desktop, web, and mobile platforms.

Verbum gives you several options for starting a new reading plan. Follow a featured plan curated by experts, generate one based on your goals and timeline, or build a custom plan that fits your unique study journey.

Click New on the Reading Plans Dashboard card.

Click New plan at the top of the Reading Plan Manager.

Click the Documents icon
and click New to expand the menu. Select Reading Plan.
This opens the Start a Reading Plan wizard.

In an open book, navigate to the Tools tab on the toolbar and select Start reading plan.

You can open your Library and find the book you want to create reading plan for. Right-click the book (avoid clicking the title as that will open the resource instead of the menu) and select Start reading plan. Verbum opens a new customizable Reading Plan document based on your selected title.
When you create a new plan from the Documents menu, Verbum displays two options of standard Reading Plans for you to choose from: the Bible (1) or another book (2). It also provides options for you to build a custom plan (3), join a plan that has been set up in a Faithlife Group you belong to (4) or select a predefined plan (5). We will focus on creating standard plans in Bibles or other books from your Library.
The Bible:
If you want to select a different Bible version, click the down arrow to the right of the currently selected one.
You then have an option to read the entire Bible or Specific Passages. Select the Next button in the Wizard to set up your reading schedule.

If you select the book option, you will then be able to select the book you want to read from the next panel
You can then choose to either read the whole book or the specific pages you want to read.
Once the have selected the book (or part of book) you want to read, you can set your reading pace.
If you wany a defined reading schedule, choose the day on which you want to start reading (1). Verbumdefaults the first reading session to today. Click to select a different starting date. Then, select the day(s) on which you want to read (2) and, if you wish, select the option to send a reminder to your mobile app (3). You can select the notification time that works best for you.
Alternatively, if you want to read at your own pace, select the No schedule option (4).
Once you have selected the desired options, click the Next button.
If you chose the scheduled option, you will be able to choose between finishing by a particular date (1), reading a certain numbers of minutes each day (2) or splitting the reading into a number of sessions (3). This is shown on the left below.
If you chose the non-scheduled option, you will be able to choose between reading a certain numbers of minutes each day (1) or splitting the reading into a number of sessions (2). This is shown on the right below.
When you have made your selections, click Finish to create the reading plan.
The new plan will be shown with the details you requested.
Click Edit plan to change plan details.

You can change the name of the plan.

You can change the dates or goals associated with the plan

You can change mobile notification settings for the plan
When you click Start, Verbum adds a card to your Dashboard. Click the card to open the Reading Plan. Verbum displays a blue ribbon heading with the scheduled date for the reading and the passage or topic. (Clicking the passage or topic in the heading opens the Reading Plan document.)

Note: If you don’t see these ribbons, make sure the Visual Filter is active. Click the Formatting tab (you may need to click More to find to find it), select the Reading Plan icon , and toggle on Show Reading Plans. Then, make sure your Reading Plan is checked.
If your reading contains multiple sections, Verbum places additional blue ribbon markers at the end of each section.
At the end of the scheduled session, Verbum places a blue ribbon marker. Click Mark done to complete the session. The Reading Plan Manager card on the Dashboard updates to remove today's reading.
If you fall behind on a Reading Plan, Verbum allows you to catch up by clicking Skip to latest. This marks all the missed reading as Skipped and allows you to pick up the next scheduled reading.
Open a new Reading Plan.
To view a Reading Plan, open the Reading Plan Manager from the Dashboard card or the Tools menu. Click a plan name to open it.
When you select the current reading session, a blue ribbon marks the beginning of the reading. If your reading contains multiple sections, an additional blue ribbon appears at the end of the section; click the passage link to navigate to the next section.
Mark the reading as done by checking the box in the Reading Plan document or by clicking Mark done in the blue ribbon at the end of the selected reading.
Click Edit plan at the top of a Reading Plan to Rename it, Change dates or goals, or Change mobile notification.
Make the desired changes to your plan and click Done.
Note
Note: Editing a Reading Plan may start it over from the beginning.
When you edit a Custom Reading Plan, you can remove sessions by hovering over the session and clicking X to Remove reading. Click Done when you are finished editing.
If you want to add a reading to an existing session in a Custom Reading Plan, in the Add a reading session to field select the session's date and add the reading using the Drop a shortcut here, Choose an open book, or Type in a reference hyperlinks. Then, click Add session.

Note: You cannot remove individual readings from a session on a specific date. Instead, remove the session by hovering over the session and clicking X to Remove reading and then create a new session for that date.
You can share your Reading Plan with any Verbum user or with a group of which you are a member. Learn more about sharing documents.
To share your Reading Plan with any Verbum user, open the plan, and click Share. From here, you can choose to keep the plan Private, Read together with a group, or share it As a template.
To share your Reading Plan with your group, choose either of the second two options. Choosing Read together allows you to share with anyone who has the link or with a specific group. Choosing As a template allows you to share the plan as a public document available on the Public tab in the Documents menu. Click Copy link to get a shareable URL and then click Save.
You can delete a Reading Plan by clicking the three vertical dots and selecting Delete from the menu.
If you delete a Reading Plan by mistake, you can recover it at documents.logos.com. Expand the dropdown menu marked Available and select Deleted. Click the Reading Plan you want to restore and click the Undelete button.
Mobile

Your Read Later list is a digital shelf for future books you’d like to read. When you’re ready to read a book in your list, you can start a Reading Plan directly from the list (see below).
You can add a book to your Read Later list from an open book or from the Library.
To place a book on your Read Later list from an open book:

Open any book and tap the More Actions Menu icon

Select Add to read later .
To place a book on your Read Later list from the Library:

Open the Library
and ensure the Books tab is selected.

Search and filter to locate a non-reference book.

Tap the More Actions Menu icon
and choose Add to read later.
Note
Note: To view your Read Later list, tap the Library icon to open your Library and select the Reading tab. Tap Read Later at the top of the screen.
You can create a Reading Plan for any non-reference book in your Library, including Bibles. Reading Plans sync to all platforms, so you can access your plans on any device with Verbum.
You can create a Reading Plan wherever you can view your books in the mobile app:

Library: When viewing the Library, tap the More Actions Menu icon
for any non-reference book and choose Start reading plan.

Read Later list: If you’ve saved books in your Read Later list, you can start a Reading Plan by going to the Library, selecting the Reading tab, and tapping Read Later list. Tap Start Reading Plan for any non-reference book in your list.

Book actions menu: When viewing any non-reference book tap the More Actions Menu icon
in the top right corner and choose Start reading plan.

Note: If you choose to read a Bible, Verbum defaults to reading through your Top Bible in a year. Tap the Plan option to select one of the other predefined Bible Reading Plans. Verbum will name your Reading Plan to reflect your choice, though you can overwrite the default plan name above.
From any of these options, Verbum presents a series of screens on which you can customize your plan. Set your preferences on each screen and click Next. When you've completed your selections click Finish.
Verbum automatically divides your selected books into reading sessions based on your selection. Tap Start to create your Reading Plan.

Note: To set more customizable reading sessions, create a custom Reading Plan in the desktop app.
You can also create a reading plan from the Dashboard.

Tap the plus icon
on the GET STARTED line and select Reading Plan.

Choose one of the listed plans or tap Start a new reading plan at the bottom.

From here, you can (1) Select one of the Featured Plans and tap Start, (2) search for a plan in the Find a plan bar, create a plan to read (3) The Bible, or (4) a plan to read Another Book.
If you’re part of a group that has created group Reading Plans, you can also choose to join your group’s Reading Plan to work through a book or Bible together.

Open the Library

Select the Reading tab.

Tap Group Readings.

Select any plan and tap Start.
Joining a group plan will move it to your Reading Now list with an indication of what group is associated with the plan.
All Reading Plans are available to you, regardless of whether you created it in the desktop, web, or mobile versions of Verbum. All your active Reading Plans display in your Library.
Note
Note: You can also find active Reading Plans in the Reading Plan Manager in the Get Started section of your Dashboard. Access your Dashboard by tapping the Today icon. Learn more about using the mobile Dashboard.
Your plan will open to the next available reading. Tap the Reading Plan icon in the location bar to jump to the day's reading.
Once you finish your reading for the day, tap Mark done to mark the day’s reading complete.
Note
Note: When you finish a Reading Plan, it moves to the Completed section of the Reading tab view of your Library. Tap any completed plan to view it. To read any plan again, tap Restart while viewing the completed plan.
The Reading tab in the Library offers several other Reading Plan options. Tap the More Actions Menu icon for any plan to view additional options.

Show overview: view your full plan.
-
Share: if the plan is not shared with a group, you can choose to share the plan with one of your available groups.

Adjust to today: move your next daily reading assignment to start today.

Mark plan complete: mark all readings in your plan complete and move the plan to the Completed section in your Reading Plan page.

Stop reading: delete the Reading Plan, removing it from your account (if the plan is shared with a group, this will not delete the plan for others in your group).
You can ask Verbum to remind you to read each day you have an active reading. You can set these notifications in the wizard when you create a plan and edit them later in the details panel. While you can set up notifications on any platform, they will only appear on mobile devices if you have enabled push notifications for the app.

Note: If you join a shared plan, you will not have any notifications set until you go into details and set them for yourself.

Tap the More Items Menu
and tap Settings.

Tap Reading Reminder.

Toggle Remind me on and set the notification timing.
If prompted, enable notifications. Each day, the mobile app will prompt you to jump back into your plan.

Open a new Reading Plan.
