Create a Small Group Study with the Bible Study Builder

Has preparing for your small group Bible study become a burden? Do you find yourself stuck when brainstorming creative questions to spark discussion? Thankfully, the Bible Study Builder has you covered. With this tool, you can outline your Bible study and then generate and insert thoughtful questions directly into your outline.

Note: This feature is available in all subscription tiers.

 

 

 

Open the Bible Study Builder

To open the Bible Study Builder, click the Tools icon Tools icon, and select Bible Study Builder.

Note: Alternatively, you can open the Bible Study Builder along with relevant resources using the Get Started Wizard on your Dashboard. Learn more.

Build a Study Outline

First, enter a name for your small group Bible study.

Next, begin adding content to your Bible study:

  1. Click the New block dropdown and choose the text type you’d like to add. Continue adding blocks for each section of your study. To remove blocks, simply press the BACKSPACE on your keyboard.
  2. Change the text type where needed by clicking in the block and clicking the text type dropdown or by using the keyboard shortcuts listed in the dropdown.
  3. Click the down arrows to format text and undo/redo.

If you wish to reorder items in your Bible study, simply drag and drop by clicking the icon Draggable Grab Handle Move icon.

When you type a scripture reference, the Bible Study Builder gives you the option to insert the text inline by pressing TAB or in a new block by pressing ENTER. Even if you opt not to insert the reference, hovering over the scripture reference shows a preview of the text in your Top Bible, and clicking it opens the reference in your Top Bible.

Add Questions

To add questions to your Bible study, first make sure the Add Questions pane is open.

Then, input your reference in the Bible reference field, and make a selection.

Verbum pulls relevant Bible study questions from across your library. To insert a question into your Bible study, click in the block above where you’d like the question, and then click the arrow icon Blue Arrow Right icon.

If for any reason you don’t want to see a question in the Add Questions pane, you can hide it with a click Hide icon. Hidden questions can be found by scrolling to the bottom of the Add Questions pane.

If you’d like to see more questions than those available from your Library, scroll to the bottom of the Add Questions pane, and click Generate to generate more relevant study questions using AI.

Add or hide these questions as described above. You can always generate more questions by clicking Generate More at the bottom of the Add Questions pane.

Open a Bible Study

Once you’ve finished building out your Bible study with the outline, questions, and content you’d like to cover, you can open it from your Documents. Click the Documents icon Documents icon, and filter your documents to the Bible Study type. Then, click your document to open it.

Note: You can also open your Bible study on your mobile device if that’s how you prefer to lead.

To print your Bible study, simply click the Print icon Print icon.

Delete, duplicate, or share a Bible study

You can delete, duplicate, or share a Bible study from the Documents menu. Click the Documents icon Documents icon, and filter your documents to the Bible study type.

Next, select your Bible study (but do not click the title itself which will open it). Then, right-click the Bible study to see the options to delete, duplicate, or share. Alternatively, if you’d like to share your study you can click Share.

You can delete a Bible study from the Documents menu. Tap the More Items Menu icon Hamburger icon, and scroll to the Documents section. Then, tap Bible Studies. To delete a Bible study, swipe left and tap Delete.
