Note: Available in all subscriptions and in the former Starter Feature Set and above.
Verbum supports two searching modes:
- A Precise search which you can use to search for very specific terms and makes use of the extensive tagging available in Verbum
- A Smart search which is AI-enabled and supports searching through natural language queries (this is only available with a subscription).
So, for example, you could use a Precise search to find every place Jesus spoke to Peter or a Smart search to find out where Jesus was born.
And you can do the same thing in your other books – such as using a Precise search to find where a particular passage appears in a sermon in your library (1) or using a Smart search to explore the focus of a particular church council (2).
Note: As you can see, in a Books Search (and also an All Search), a Smart Search returns a synopsis of the most relevant results.
You can access the Search Tool either by clicking the Search icon on the application toolbar (1), or right-clicking a word in a Book and executing a search from the context menu (2).
At the top of a Search panel are a number of tabs, allowing you to access different types of search – these are outlined and explored here.
Search Without Leaving Your Bible or Other Books
Inline search is the quickest way to search within a book you have open. In your open Bible or other book, select the Search tab and enter your search term in the inline search box.
Note: Bibles support Smart Inline Searching while other books only support Precise Inline Searching.
