Using Notebooks

Notebooks are groups of notes that have been gathered together and organized by you, the user. It's possible to have notes that aren't connected to a notebook, just as it is possible for notebooks to be empty, containing no notes.

As you study your way through a passage of scripture, you may want to create a series of notes and highlights recording your observations, questions, and discoveries. Notebooks allow you to organize these notes and highlights into one place, even if your research has caused you to open and highlight dozens of different books.

Skip ahead to:

Create a Notebook

  1. Open the Notes Tool by clicking Tools > Notes. (You can also open the Notes Tool from the Selection Menu or the Context Menu.)

  2. Click the Navigation Drawer icon , and select the Notebook icon .

  3. Add a Notebook.
Click the Plus icon and type the name of your new Notebook. Press Enter when you are finished. Verbum adds your new Notebook to the list of available notebooks.

Create a Sermon Notebook

When you're working on a sermon document, you can make notes with a sermon-specific notebook right from the Sermon Builder. These can be notes to yourself regarding what worked and what didn't, or they can be the place you store observations and discoveries as you prepare your sermons.

To create a sermon notebook:

  1. Open a sermon in the Sermon Builder.
  2. Expand the Information pane by clicking the information icon .
  3. Click the Notebooks icon .
  4. Click New note.

That's it! Your new note is automatically saved in a new notebook with the same name as your sermon title.
