Studying a Bible Passage with Verbum

Note: This feature is available in all subscription tiers.

Creating your own custom Bible study in Verbum can be daunting. How do you choose which books to open and which guide or workflow to use? If you’re looking for a way to dive straight into a Bible passage, select Personal Study from the Get Started Wizard on your Dashboard and enter a Bible reference.

With just a few clicks, you’ll have your Bible passage open in front of you with your favorite study Bible and commentary tracking alongside.

Personal Study - Passage Layout

The panel on the left side opens your Top Bible to the reference you’ve entered. Reading the passage several times in your Top Bible is a great place to start your study. Then, use the Insights Sidebar which shows as a pane to the right of your Top Bible for quick access to basic reference materials or to explore related passages.

As you read through the passage in your Top Bible, you can refer to the notes in your top prioritized study Bible in the top right panel to learn about historical context and better understand complex passages. Your study Bible is conveniently linked to your Top Bible, meaning that it stays in sync as you scroll.

Another useful way to answer any questions you have about a passage is to read what commentaries have to say. The bottom right panel contains your top prioritized commentary which is also linked to your Top Bible and study Bible. You can also easily switch between commentaries by using the parallel resources button Parallel Resources icon.

Still need some help? The help resource in the right sidebar walks you through how to use the Personal Study layout.
