How do AI credits work?

Note: This feature is available in all subscription tiers.

Verbum includes several features enhanced by AI. Because these features require accessing a third-party service, each request uses credits. These are all drawn from the same fixed pool of credits, which is renewed each month and does not roll over. Different features use different amounts of credits, and different subscription tiers include different monthly allotments. So, a Verbum Max subscription gives you more monthly AI credits than Verbum Pro, which gives you more than Verbum Premium.

Features requiring AI credits are designated with the AI Assistant icon icon. These features include article summarization, Smart search, Smart Synopsis, Sermon Assistant, and auto translation.

On the Toolbar, you'll see a blue ring around either the AI Assistant icon icon or the notifications icon updating you on your AI credit usage. Click your notifications to see the percentage of credits you've used and when your monthly credits will refresh.

In the unlikely event you use all your AI credits, you’ll receive an in-app notification. You can upgrade your plan to gain a larger allotment of credits or wait for your credits to renew at the beginning of your next month.

Note: We adjust credit usage from time to time as we improve our services and as the costs of AI change. Because we make these adjustments fairly frequently, we’re not able to publish the exact amounts, but typically, you’ll be able to use every one of the AI tools a few hundred times a month before your credits run out – more than that if you’re only using one or two tools. The current exceptions to this are Smart Synopsis and Sermon Assistant Outlines, which use more credits than other tools due to their complexity and power. You’ll still be able to use those tools dozens of times per month, though.
