Troubleshooting Possible Connection and Sign-In Issues.
Problem:
When you attempt to sign-in to Verbum, a message comes up saying it is "Setup was Unable to connect to Verbum.com."

Tip: Make sure your version of Verbum is up to date before following the solutions below. Update Verbum by running the most recently released Verbum installer from here.
Tip: Verify that your computer's time is set correctly, and that your computer has current root certificates. Both are required for Verbum to establish a secure connection to our servers.
Solution 1: Internet Connection
Check your Internet Connection. If you are connecting through a Wireless Network, try moving closer to the Router, or plugging directly in to the router to improve Network Performance.
Solution 2: Firewalls & Proxies
Do you connect through a Firewall or Proxy Server? If you have the latest Root Certificates, and you are otherwise able to access the internet, it is possible your Security Software is blocking Verbum. Most Firewall software comes with an "Exceptions" list, which you can use to allow access by specific programs. Try adding Verbum Bible Software (logos.exe & logosIndexer.exe) to that Exceptions list (See Article).
Or, if you are using a Proxy Server (most common at secure work or school network), we try to grab the Proxy Settings automatically, but you can enter them manually by holding the CTRL Key while Verbum is opening. Click on "Proxy settings" to enter your HTTP Address and Credentials (if you don't know your credentials, your network administrator should be able to assist you).
If you are not using a Proxy Server, you may want to check that your computer is not set to use proxy. In Windows, go to Control Panel>Internet Options>Connections tab>LAN Settings, make the "Use a proxy server" checkbox is unchecked.
Solution 3: Internet Filtering Software
If you use CyberSitter or a similar Internet Filtering software, you may want to try uninstalling or disabling it. If that resolves the problem, contact the software publisher for help adding Verbum to an Exceptions List for your filtering software.
Solution 4A: Operating System Updates (Mac Users)
You may need to install certain operating system, and Security updates to use Verbum online. This Apple support article will walk you through that.
Solution 4B: OS Updates (Windows Users)
Make sure your computer is up to date on the latest Root Certificates by running Windows Update (They're in the Optional Updates section). Please continue running updates until the Root Certificates update is no longer available. When Verbum attempts to log in to our server, it needs the latest Root Certificates to verify our servers as trusted.
Solution 5: Reset the Winsock (Windows Users)
If the previous solutions do not resolve the issue or do not apply to you, try the following:
Windows 10 | Windows 8.1:
- Go to the Start menu.
- Type "CMD"
- You don't need to click anything, just start typing.
- "Command Prompt" will be listed.
- Right-click on "Command Prompt".
- Click "Run as administrator" at the bottom of the screen.
- At the prompt, type: netsh winsock reset
- Hit Enter
- Restart the Computer
Solution 6: Repair Installation
It's possible that the Verbum installation has been damaged, and needs to be repaired. This most commonly occurs when an anti-virus or other security program has quarantined a Verbum file. To resolve,
Windows Users:
- Open Control Panel > Uninstall a program.
- Select Verbum Bible Software from the list of programs.
- Click the Repair button.
Mac Users:
- Delete the Verbum application (Finder > Applications).
- Replace it with a new copy from the Installation Guide.
