Create a Word List document to save, import, and organize lists of words from references, resources, search results, and passage lists.

 

Create a Word List

  1. Click Docs > New > Word List. (Word Lists you’ve already created will appear in the main pane of the Docs menu.)

  1. Give your Word List a descriptive name by clicking on the title field and typing a title.

 

  1. Add words to your list by clicking Add. Select your source from the drop-down menu.

 

Note: Adding lemmas or words from a reverse interlinear Bible will add the corresponding words from the original language version.

Add Lemmas From:

  • Add all of the lemmas (dictionary forms of words) within a selected passage. Enter a verse or passage in the passage box. Then select the source from the Version drop down menu.

 

Add Words From…

  • ...selected text — Add all of the words selected in an open resource.

 

  • ...another word list — Add the contents of another word list to the current word list.

 

  • ...clipboard — Add words in your system clipboard to the current word list.

 

  • ...highlighter style — Add words that you’ve highlighted with a specific highlighting style. Select highlighter style, then select the highlighting style you want in the right pane of the drop-down menu.

  • You can also add individual lemmas by entering them in the Add Lemma box at the bottom of the Word List panel.

 

 

Merge Word Lists

You can easily merge two lists to create a third new list. Note: This does not delete or alter the original lists.

  1. Click Docs, then select the first word list you want to use.

 

  1. Click Merge in the Word List panel toolbar.

 

  1. Enter the name of the second word list in the text box and select it when it appears.

 

  1. Click the type of merge you want to perform. Verbum will generate a new word list and open it in a new panel.

 

Group by Column

You can group the words (e.g. by count) in your Word List by pressing Option (Mac) and dragging or dragging (Windows) the column heading to the field that says Click a column header and drag it here to group by it.

Remove a grouping by dragging it outside the grouping field.

 

Create Word Cards

You can create and print flashcards from your word list.

  1. Click Cards in the upper right of the Word List panel.

 

  1. Select the paper size on which you will print by clicking Letter, A4, or Index.

 

  1. Select the number of cards per page by clicking 3 cards, 8 cards, or 10 cards.

 

  • Verbum displays a list of Avery card templates that are compatible with your selection. 

 

  • You can view the front and back of your cards by selecting either Front or Back in the upper right of the Word List panel.

 

Share a Word List

All of the documents you create, including your Word Lists, are backed up on Verbum’ servers. You can also share any document you create with your Faithlife.com groups. To do so, click on the Word List panel menu icon and select Manage document sharing. This will open an internet browser window to your personal documents page at documents.logos.com, where you can publish, collaborate, duplicate, and delete your documents.

 

Print or Export Word List Cards

Print or export your Word List cards to another format by clicking the Word List panel menu icon and selecting Print/Export. A new window will appear with print and export options.

Verbum allows you to create, customize, and share reading plans of the Bible or any other resource in your library.

 

Create a Reading Plan

You can create a Reading Plan by clicking Doc > New > Reading Plan. Reading Plans you’ve already created will appear in the main pane of the Docs menu. Verbum will open a dialog box providing you with three options for generating a Reading Plan.

Choose a Predefined Reading Plan

Selecting this option brings you to a list of existing reading plans. Each plan has a title and brief description. You can adopt one of these plans by:

  1. Selecting it the Reading Plan drop-down menu, or the list below.

 

  1. Select the Bible version you want to read by clicking the Version drop-down menu and making a selection.

 

  1. Select the frequency you want to read by clicking on the Frequency drop-down menu and selecting every day, every week, or each… (select specific days).

 

  1. Select the start date for your reading plan by clicking the Start Date dropdown menu and selecting a date on the calendar.

 

  1. Choose whether you want to follow the reading plan by yourself, or to share it with one of your groups on Faithlife.com by clicking the Sharing drop-down menu.

  1. Click Start.

 

Generate a Reading Plan

This option allows you to create a customized Bible reading plan. 

  1. Give your reading plan a descriptive title by entering a name in the title field.

 

  1. Select the Resource you want to read by clicking the Resource drop-down menu and making a selection from the list, or by entering the name or abbreviation of your desired resource in the search box that appears.

  1. Select the passage range by clicking the Passage drop-down menu. (You can enter page numbers for non-Bible resources that have page numbers.)

 

  1. If you’re reading the Bible, select the way your reading plan is divided by clicking the Chapter drop-down menu and selecting either Default, Chapter, or Pericope.

 

  1. Select the frequency you want to read by clicking the Frequency drop down menu. You can select every day, every weekday, or each…[specific days].

  

  1. Select the start and end dates by clicking the Start Date and Finish Date drop-down menus.

 

  1. Choose whether you want to follow the reading plan by yourself, or to share it with one of your groups on Faithlife.com by clicking the Sharing drop-down menu.

 

  1. Click Start.

 

Custom Reading Plan

This option allows you to create a reading plan, session by session, for one or more documents in your Verbum library. 

  1. Give your reading plan a descriptive title by entering a name in the title field.

 

  1. Select the date for your first current reading session.

 

  1. Add one or more passages to the reading session by dragging a reference hyperlink, dragging a resource, or selecting Choose from an open resource or Type in a reference.

 

Note: if you drag a resource, the reading plan will use the current page number open in the resource. To add a different page number to the reading plan, scroll to the page you want in the resource before dragging it to the Reading Plan.

 

  1. Click Add session.

 

  1. Repeat steps 2-4 until you’ve completed your reading plan. Then click Done.

 

Reading Plan Views

You can view your Reading Plan in three different ways:

  • Overview shows a list of upcoming readings.

 

  • Calendar displays a calendar with entries for each of your reading plan entries.

 

  • List displays a compact list of upcoming readings.

 

Find a Reading Plan

Your reading plan will appear as a card on your Home Page. You can also access your reading plan by clicking Document in the toolbar and selecting it in the right pane, or by entering the reading plan title into the Document search box.

 

Export a Reading Plan

You can easily export your calendar to an iCal (Mac) or Outlook calendar. To do so, open the reading plan. 

  1. Click the Reading Plan panel menu icon and select Print/Export.

 

  1. A new window will open displaying print and export options. Under Save as file, select the filetype you want.

 

  1. A dialog box will appear prompting you to select a file location to which to download your calendar file. Select a file location.

 

  1. Import the calendar file into your calendar software.

 

Share a Reading Plan

You can share your Reading Plan with a Faithlife Group of which you are a member. To do so, click on the Reading Plan panel menu icon and select Manage Document Sharing. This will open the your document in the online Documents Manager in a new browser window, where you can collaborate, duplicate, and delete documents.
