Search within an Open Book

Sometimes when reading a book, it can be helpful to search within it to find similar phrases, particular morphological forms or other details. Inline Search enables you to do this in a similar way to the Search tool, allowing you to search the entire contents of your library and more.

Note: Inline Search options vary depending on the resource you’re searching.

Perform a Search

Select the Search tab in the panel toolbar to expose a search box.

The Search feature has a number of options:

  1. A search box where you can enter a search term.
  2. A language selector where you can switch the language of your search between the system language, Hebrew, and Greek.
  3. A picker enabling you to choose from a list of search fields to constrain your search.
  4. A control allowing you to switch between searching within a single verse or within a chapter, and also the option to show results within verses, paragraphs or pericopes.
  5. The option to constrain your search to a portion of the book you are reading.

Once you have carried out your search, you can use the navigation arrows at the top right of the panel to move backwards and forwards through the results.

Customize an Inline Search

Using the options above you can customize how this feature works. Below are some examples showing some of them in operation.

You can conduct a search within the Gospels and display the search results within the pericope that contains them.

You can search within chapter boundaries, so that if you specify multiple terms you will get hits if the terms appear in the same chapter as opposed to just within verse boundaries as indicated below.

Inline Search - In Chapter Or Verse

You can select a subset of text within which to carry out the search – such as that with a particular highlight color.

Inline Search - In Highlighter

You can carry out a Morph Search within the book.
