System Configuration Error

Troubleshooting possible system configuration problems.

Problem

You may receive the following error when attempting to update or reinstall Verbum Bible Software: "Verbum Bible Software has detected a problem with your system configuration."
Or
"Could not copy application."

Solution

This error can occur if the OS X User directory (/Users/username) has been locked or its permissions are incorrect.

Unlocking the User Directory

  • Open Finder.
  • From the menu at the top of the screen, choose Go > Computer.
  • Select your hard drive (usually "Macintosh HD").
  • Open the "Users" folder.
  • Select the User Name directory (indicated by a house icon).
  • Go to File > Get Info and expand the "General" section.
  • Uncheck the "Locked" option.
  • Retry your Verbum update or installation.

If this doesn't apply to you (your directory was not locked), proceed to the next step.

Correcting User Permissions

To perform this step, we need to use Apple's "Disk Utility" application to find and repair incorrect permissions on the hard drive.

  • Go to Applications > Utilities and open "Disk Utility".
  • Select your hard drive (usually "Macintosh HD") from the menu on the left.
  • Click the "Verify Permissions" button to check for errors.
  • Afterward, click "Repair Permissions" button to fix errors.
  • Retry your Verbum update or installation.

This should resolve the issue. If it does not, please contact Customer Support at 1-800-875-6467 or support@logos.com.
